What guests say
8.6 / 10 · Very good on Booking.com, from 53 guest reviews
The Tally Ho Inn earns consistent praise for its prime Carmel-by-the-Sea location, sweeping ocean views, and generously sized rooms with charming touches like courtyard fireplaces, making most guests very happy. However, a recurring thread of complaints highlights genuinely dated interiors, maintenance deficiencies (malfunctioning fireplaces, rusted spa tubs, peeling window tint), minimal on-site staffing after late afternoon, and advertised amenities that may not be available to third-party bookers — issues that feel particularly sharp given the premium nightly rates. Overall sentiment is warmly positive, but expectations should be calibrated to a characterful, older property rather than a polished boutique hotel.
