What guests say
8.5 / 10 · Very good on Booking.com, from 531 guest reviews
The Hotel Portsmouth earns strong enthusiasm for its prime walkable downtown location, genuinely charming historic character, included breakfast, and warm staff — making it a standout boutique experience for most guests. However, a recurring broken elevator is a serious practical issue, particularly for guests with heavy luggage or mobility concerns, and a handful of rooms drew criticism for cramped sizing, poor lighting, and uncomfortable beds. Overall sentiment is warmly positive, but prospective guests should weigh the building's quirks against its considerable charm.
